Altaf Hussain Shaikh, who was traveling in a burqa on the Karjat local train, was traced through CCTV footage at Ghatkopar station and arrested in Nashik. A Bengali baba was also caught with propaganda material.

Mumbai. A male wearing a burqa was seen traveling in the women's second-class compartment of the Karjat local train at Ghatkopar station. The man alighted from the opposite side of the platform at Ghatkopar station and fled the scene. Based on CCTV footage, the suspect was identified, traced, and arrested in Nashik.

The accused has been identified as Altaf Hussain Shaikh (57 years old), a resident of Nashik. During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused is mentally ill and has been receiving psychiatric treatment at various hospitals since 2022. The accused was apprehended by the Government Railway Police (GRP) and handed over to the Railway Protection Force (RPF) Ghatkopar for further necessary action.

Central Railway appeals to male passengers not to board or travel in coaches reserved for women. Those found doing so will face penal action under the Railway Act. Central Railway also appeals to passengers to report any unusual incidents of this nature to the nearest railway employee on duty or to the helpline number 139. Indian Railways will take action in such cases.

'Bengali Baba' arrested

A coordinated RPF team of Central Railway and Western Railway successfully arrested a man posing as a "Bengali Baba" for illegally pasting and distributing promotional material in railway coaches and on railway premises. Based on specific information received from reliable informants about an active fake Baba, a joint raid was conducted at the Mira Ali Dargah at Darukhana on Rea Road. During the raid, an accused, Mohammad Nazir Andari, was arrested and approximately 15,000 posters used for advertising and publicity in railway coaches and on railway premises were recovered from him. Upon interrogation, the accused confessed.
