The weather across several parts of India has taken a dramatic turn due to Cyclone Maantha, bringing widespread rain and thunderstorms. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for heavy rainfall in 11 states, including Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. According to IMD’s latest forecast, several regions are likely to experience intense rainfall with thunderstorms and gusty winds ranging between 60–70 kmph in the next 24 hours.
States such as Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Maharashtra are expected to be the most affected. Heavy downpour is also likely in Saurashtra and Kutch regions of Gujarat.

Between October 30 and November 2, heavy rainfall is predicted over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya, while Eastern Uttar Pradesh may receive very heavy showers on October 30–31.
For Western UP, IMD has forecast lightning and thunderstorms with wind speeds up to 40 kmph. However, no major temperature change is expected in North India over the next week.

Andhra Pradesh – Red Alert

A red alert has been issued for Vijayanagaram, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Kakinada, Yanam, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema, and West Godavari districts. Officials have been asked to remain on high alert as very heavy rain is expected till October 30.

Odisha – Red Alert

Districts like Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Ganjam are under red alert for heavy rain. Neighboring districts have also been placed under orange and yellow alerts due to the moderate impact of Cyclone Maantha.

Tamil Nadu – Orange Alert

In Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, Ranipet, Tiruvallur, Tiruvannamalai, and Villupuram, IMD has issued an orange alert. As the cyclone moves inland, these areas could witness strong winds and heavy to very heavy rainfall.

Telangana – Red and Orange Alerts

The IMD has sounded a red alert for Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, and Mahabubabad districts. Thunderstorms with lightning, heavy rain, and winds between 40–50 kmph are expected.
Meanwhile, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Peddapalli, Khammam, Warangal, and Hanumakonda districts are under orange alert.

Gujarat – Heavy Rainfall Warning

Unseasonal rainfall continues in Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, and Kheda districts. IMD has predicted widespread heavy rain till October 31, particularly over Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, Surat, Navsari, Junagadh, and Botad, covering the Saurashtra and South Gujarat regions.

In Delhi-NCR, the sky remained cloudy on Wednesday, leading to a noticeable drop in temperature. The cold breeze has marked the gradual onset of winter in northern India.
Meanwhile, UP and Bihar are expected to witness moderate to heavy rainfall in some districts due to the extended effect of Cyclone Maantha over the next two days.

The IMD has urged state authorities to stay alert and take precautionary measures in vulnerable regions. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal waters till weather conditions improve.
