Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati addressed a massive rally at Lucknow's Ramabai Maidan, where she made key political announcements affecting the future of her party. Condemning the Samajwadi Party for changing institutional names and policies set by the BSP, Mayawati emphasized the importance of the legacy of Kanshi Ram and party values.

Mayawati announced that the BSP will fight the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls without any alliances, citing past experiences that showed coalitions did not benefit the party and resulted in instability. She insisted that contesting elections independently has proven more advantageous for the BSP, stating her confidence that the party will reclaim power in the upcoming election.

At the event, Mayawati formally declared Akash Anand—her nephew—as the BSP’s national vice president and promised to guide him as her political successor. This decision elevates Akash Anand to the second-highest position in the party, just below Mayawati herself. She called on BSP workers to extend the same support to Akash as they had shown to her and Kanshi Ram. Akash Anand’s leadership will be crucial in steering the BSP through upcoming state elections and organizational expansion.

Mayawati also addressed rumors about SP leader Azam Khan joining the BSP, stating that any party expansion is done transparently and dismissing such reports as baseless. The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from lakhs of supporters, underlining the party’s strong base in Uttar Pradesh and its focus on upcoming electoral battles.
