The preliminary post-mortem report of Aqeel Akhtar, son of former Punjab DGP (Human Rights) Mohammad Mustafa, has been released, shedding light on the circumstances of his suspicious death. According to the report, a syringe mark was found on Aqeel’s right arm, approximately 7 centimeters below the elbow.

Findings from the Post-Mortem

The initial report indicates that Aqeel was a drug user, though it does not specify the type of substance or confirm whether it was injectable. Medical experts note that drug users typically inject through the left arm, which is easier to access. However, Aqeel’s post-mortem revealed only a single syringe mark on the right arm, with no evidence of multiple marks commonly seen in habitual users.

Investigation Launched

Based on the preliminary findings, the Haryana Police Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by ACP Vikram Nehra, has initiated a probe into the case.

New Video Adds a Twist

A recently surfaced three-minute video shows Aqeel denying allegations against his family and praising their support during his illness. He says, “I don’t know what I was saying at that time. That’s why it’s called madness.” However, he adds a chilling statement at the end: “Let’s see if these people will kill me.”

FIR Against Former DGP and Family Members

Earlier, an FIR was filed against Mohammad Mustafa, Aqeel’s mother, wife, and sister following a complaint by a neighbor, Shamsuddin Chaudhary. The former DGP has strongly refuted the allegations, calling them baseless and fabricated. He claimed that Chaudhary has multiple fraud cases against him and is attempting to implicate the family for political revenge.

He further stated, “Shamsuddin is neither a relative nor an acquaintance. He lives about two and a half kilometers from my home and has only ever visited me in connection with a case. The police investigation will reveal the truth and lies within a few days.”
