'There was corruption in making the statue, is that why he apologized', Rahul cornered PM Modi on the pretext of Shivaji

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi attacked the Narendra Modi government in his speech in Sangli, Maharashtra, and said that those who make mistakes apologize. If he has to apologize, then he should apologize to Shivaji Maharaj as well as the people of the state. Regarding the fall of Shivaji's statue, he said that the PM should tell on which matter he has apologized.

Addressing a public meeting in Sangli, Rahul Gandhi said, “…our ideology is in your DNA and the fight that you are seeing in India is not just politics. Earlier politics used to prevail, today there is a war of ideologies in India. On one side is the Congress party and on the other side is the BJP. We want social development, we want to move forward by uniting everyone and they want that only the selected people should get the benefit… this is the fight between us and you will see it in the entire country.”

Taking a dig at PM Modi's apology for the Shivaji statue that fell a few days ago, Rahul Gandhi said that apologies are made by those who commit mistakes. In the apology PM Modi has made for the fall of Shivaji's statue, he should tell for whom he has apologized. He should clarify whether he has apologized for giving the contract of making the statue to RSS people instead of merit, or for corruption.

Promising to conduct caste census again, Rahul Gandhi said, "I had said in the Lok Sabha that no matter what happens, we will conduct caste census. The Congress Party and our alliance will conduct the census because we want to understand the truth of the country which class is benefiting from the wealth of this country?"

Earlier, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi said that we have come here in memory of Dr. Patangrao Kadam. He devoted his entire life to the service of Congress, Maharashtra, and the country. Kadam did work related to education and development and stood with Congress all his life. Even when Indira Gandhi lost the election, Kadam stood with her.

The Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha further said that Maharashtra is a progressive state. Different people worked here and took the public along. All of them showed the way to Maharashtra. Many people including Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Shahuji Maharaj, and Phuleji gave a way of life, progress, and inspiration to Maharashtra as well as the entire country.

During this, many leaders including Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, All India Congress Committee in-charge Ramesh Chennithala, Nationalist Congress Party (SP) chief Sharad Pawar, former Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, Kolhapur MP Shahu Chhatrapati and Congress State President Nana Patole were present.
