Sunita Williams' trip caused losses worth billions, now good news for Boeing

There is good news for Boeing, the company that made the Starliner spacecraft that failed to bring Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore back from space. Boeing has got a big deal from the Nigerian government. Nigeria has signed an agreement with Boeing related to aircraft maintenance and safety.

Under the deal between the Nigerian government and Boeing, Boeing's airport engineering team will help improve air travel and related facilities in Nigeria. Nigeria's aviation minister has said that this partnership will prove to be a milestone in modernizing the capabilities of Nigerian airlines.

Big deal with the Nigerian government

Under this deal, Boeing will have to provide planning workshops, training, and technical support to Nigerian airline operators in Nigeria. Nigeria announced the signing of this important MOU with Boeing on Thursday. This will increase the leasing of new aircraft, maintenance, and technical support for Nigerian airlines. Nigerian Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo and Boeing officials signed this MOU in Seattle, which was announced the next day.

Let us tell you that Boeing supplies 500 planes to 60 airlines across Africa. This private company got a big deal from NASA for a space mission in 2014, but its spacecraft failed in its first mission. Due to this, the company is estimated to have suffered losses worth billions.

Starliner failure causes billions of losses

Astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore have been stranded in space for 3 months due to the failure of Boeing's Starliner aircraft. NASA has now chosen SpaceX for their return. According to media reports, Boeing has suffered a loss of $1 billion due to this decision of NASA.

NASA had given a contract of $ 4.2 billion to Boeing and $ 2.6 billion to SpaceX under the Commercial Crew Program. The amount received from NASA for the Commercial Crew Program was fixed, so Boeing is responsible for the increase in cost and financial loss due to any delay in it.

This was Boeing's first commercial crew program after it was awarded the contract. Boeing's Starliner spacecraft failed in its first test flight in about a decade. The Starliner spacecraft was supposed to return to Earth on June 13 after an 8-day mission, but Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore have been stranded at the space station for about 3 months. Due to technical flaws and safety in the spacecraft, NASA has decided to bring the Starliner back without a crew. Boeing will now have to bear all the losses caused by the delay in the mission.
