The 14-year-old boy who wreaked havoc in a US school was on the FBI's radar for a year, killing 4 people including a math teacher

 

Four people including a math teacher died in a firing in Georgia, USA, while more than nine people were injured. The shooter is a 14-year-old student of the same school, whose name is said to be Colt Gray.

The accused opened fire in the school on Wednesday with an AR-15-style rifle. He is currently in police custody and will now be tried as an adult. Those killed in this open firing at Apalache High School in Winder, Georgia include 2 students and 2 teachers.

Who is Colt Gray?

The FBI has informed that the accused Colt Gray was questioned last year the accused had threatened online to shoot at the school at an unknown place and time, these threats also included pictures of guns. This information has been given in a joint statement by the FBI and the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.

According to media reports, last year the accused Colt Gray, and his father were questioned by the county sheriff's office. During the questioning, the accused's father said that he has a hunting gun but it is always under his supervision. He denied the allegations of making online threats, for which the accused was not arrested then, although Jackson County had alerted local schools to constantly monitor the accused.

Colt Gray was always quiet - classmate

According to the investigating officers, the investigation into the reasons for the attack is ongoing, at present it does not seem that the accused Colt Gray had any previous connection with the people killed. While talking to CNN, a student of Colt's school, Layla Sairath, said that he used to be very quiet. The student has said that "Colt Gray mostly remained quiet and rarely came to school, even if he came to school, he did not attend the class." The accused Colt Gray's schoolmate says that even if he ever spoke, his answers were of one word or short sentences.

What happened at the time of the incident?

Layla was sitting next to Colt Gray in the maths class before the attack. She says she was not surprised at all to know that the shooter was Colt Gray. Recalling the shooting incident, Sairath has said that Colt Gray left the class as soon as the maths period started and returned just before the class ended.

Sarath said the doors lock automatically when closed, and when Gray returned, he was not allowed in. Sarath said someone on the loudspeaker told the math teacher to check his email. Shortly after, Gray was asked to come into the class.

The teacher saw Colt Gray holding a gun and she stepped back. Colt then turned and started firing. After firing in the maths class, Colt Gray went to another class and started firing indiscriminately, although he was taken into custody within a few minutes.

Biden said that what should have been a joyous return-to-school session in Winder has turned into another horrific reminder of how gun violence is tearing our communities apart.
