This big weapon can be taken away from bowlers in IPL, BCCI is considering it

Two rules were the subject of discussion in IPL 2024. To make the game interesting, the BCCI had allowed the impact player and two bouncers in a single over. While the impact player gave the team the option of playing an extra player, the bowlers got a big weapon in the form of two bouncers. This rule was welcomed by everyone. At the same time, the impact player rule was accused of disturbing the balance of the game and there was a demand to remove it from the league. Now the Board of Control for Cricket in India is reviewing both these rules. If both these rules are removed, then the batsmen may or may not be affected, but the bowlers will lose a big weapon.

It is believed that the T20 is a format for batsmen. Bowlers have very few weapons to protect themselves. Therefore, the board experimented by allowing bowlers to bowl two bouncers in an over in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, which was warmly welcomed by the cricketers.

According to Cricbuzz's report, this rule was specially introduced for the inter-state domestic T20 tournament Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. After getting success there, it was also implemented in IPL, where only one bouncer is allowed in international cricket. Therefore, BCCI is now considering removing it. However, the board is still in dilemma and has not been able to take any decision.

Impact Player Rule Review

On one hand, while the rule of two bouncers was welcomed, there was a ruckus over the rule of the impact player. Due to this, 12 players were able to play in a single match. At the same time, bowlers were also getting hit hard. That is why the last season of IPL was also high-scoring. Many cricket experts were seen criticizing it. They believed that this harmed the all-rounders. At the same time, some also supported it.

Recently, Zaheer Khan supported the impact player rule and said that this rule has given opportunities to new players. If someone is a true all-rounder, then no one can remove him. Overall, there is a lot of controversy over this rule. That is why the board is also reviewing it.
