A high-speed truck rammed into a bar, 11 people died, and more than 30 injured

 

At least 11 people were killed and more than 30 injured when a truck rammed into a bar in the Caribbean country of the Dominican Republic. Civil Defense Director Juan Salas said the accident happened early Sunday in the southern community of Azua, west of the capital Santo Domingo, officials said.

Police spokesman Diego Pesquera said one of the victims was a police sergeant. Salas said it was not immediately clear what caused the accident, though officers were checking CCTV cameras in the area.

Driver absconded after the accident

Pesquera said the truck driver fled the scene and was not located. He said police detained a passenger in the truck, which was carrying avocados. Most of the injured were taken to a nearby hospital. Salas said their condition was not immediately known.

Seven people died in a bus overturning

Seven people were killed and 37 injured when a bus overturned in Mississippi, USA. Giving this information, the Mississippi Highway Patrol said that six passengers died on the spot in this accident, while another died in the hospital. The National Transportation Safety Board posted on X that the accident occurred due to a tire burst.

Warren County Coroner Doug Huskey said the dead included a six-year-old boy and his 16-year-old sister. Both were identified by their mother. He said officials were trying to identify the rest of the dead. 37 injured passengers were taken to hospitals in Vicksburg and Jackson.
