A statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs said that during his visit to Russia, Prime Minister Modi may also hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from BRICS member countries and invited leaders in Kazan. The theme of this year's BRICS summit is 'Strengthening multilateralism for global development and security'.

The Ministry of External Affairs said that this summit will provide an important platform for the leaders to discuss the major issues of the world. The ministry also said that the progress of the initiatives started by BRICS will be assessed in this summit and it will also provide a valuable opportunity to identify potential areas for future cooperation. Heads of state of all member countries will be present to participate in the summit. It is believed that apart from the BRICS summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet the Prime Ministers and Presidents of many countries present in Russia at that time.

After the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin in July, bilateral talks between the two leaders have been scheduled again in October. Apart from this, there is a high possibility of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is coming to attend the BRICS summit. The possibility of a Modi-Jinping meeting is being expressed for the first time since the Galwan issue in the year 2020. Earlier, during the meeting of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi with External Affairs Minister Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, preparations for the possible meeting of Modi-Jinping were reviewed. PM Modi is also likely to meet the leaders of many other member countries present in Kazan, Russia.
