Blood oranges are deep red colored fruits. The scientific name of this fruit is Citrus sinensis. The blood-like color of these oranges is due to the anthocyanins present in them. Anthocyanins are water-soluble pigments that produce red, violet, and blue colors. There are three more varieties of this orange. ie Moro, Taroko, Sanguinello.
